The Music Team meeting was called to order at 7pm on June 10, 2021.
Most of the meeting was spent discussing issues with Jamulus and suggestions as to what we can try to make the Jamulus rehearsals work for everyone
.
First of all, everyone must understand that the majority of the issues we have experienced with Jamulus over the last two weeks are unknown to all of us, including the few people in the chorus who are very knowledgeable about technology. None of us are happy with what we have gone through with Jamulus, and all of the chorus members have to understand that and do all that they can to support to the time and effort people have spent trying to make it work to our advantage. One question was asked at the meeting....."if we knew we were going to have these type of problems with Jamulus, it would have helped if we would have let the chorus know about them before we went to Jamulus". WELL....none of us knew we would encounter the problems we had. We have never had more than eight people on Jamulus at any one time. The few people in the chorus who understand the total technology picture, not just with Jamulus, but the total picture, have tried to explain the reasons these problems happened and what we can or cannot do to fix them. With that, I am one of the people who does not understand in-depth technology. So, I have thought about some examples that might help everyone understand what we have been told about the issues. Let's say Wednesday is rained like hell in Northridge.....but Sherman Oaks didn't get a drop of rain.......yesterday there was a 3.5 earthquake in Santa Clarita.....but Van Nuys didn't feel a thing. These are examples of the technology that has been explained to us regarding Bandwidth and usage in your area, and all the other obstacles that interfere with what you end up with when you're on your home system.
We have come up with ideas of what we will try from now on by having less people on Jamulus at one time. We will be trying out these different things over the next few weeks until we can finally get back to live rehearsals. Hopefully not far off. At this point, what the Music Team would like to ask all of you would to just be patient and work with us instead of against us. We are doing everything we can to make it still an evening of fun and singing, whatever form it might take. We will continue split rehearsals with Zoom/Jamulus for now.
The Team was reminded of the Guest Speaker will will have the first half of the rehearsal on 6/28.....Chris Burns from the Tampa Bay Chorus and will be going over Visual Presentation.
Chorus Manager, Jeffery Bunch, let the Team know that he is still in touch via email with the people we have done performances for in the past to let them know we are still singing and looking forward to performing for them again when things get back to normal.
For the "Good of the Chapter", the entire team feels very good about how the chorus has performed during the "pandemic" and look forward to getting back together live and hearing the chorus ring those chords again!
