2/10/22 BOD-VP Music & Performance Report

The Music Team meeting was called to order at 7:05pm on February 10, 2022.

Everyone continues to feel the weekly live rehearsals are going well and like the "fun" things we have added to the program, i.e. tag teaching and the pick-up quartets.

Warren Garfield, Director of the "Beautiful Dreamer 2" show, attended the meeting to talk about the timing of the show. He is looking at a date sometime in the spring of 2023 for the show. Hopefully, we will be able to keep this time frame. Bob Karlin also attended the meeting and is looking for a date for his show, "Surfin USA" sometime in the middle of May or the beginning of June. We are in the process of setting aside dates with certain venues for both of these shows. More detailed info will be passed on to everyone as we get them.

The Team discussed both Zoom and live rehearsals and mask protocols. We will continue the Zoom sessions until all active members are able to return to the live rehearsals. We also decided that we will start allowing guests to join our live rehearsals beginning 2/21/22. We are suggesting that all potential guests attend their first meeting via Zoom to get an idea of the format of our rehearsals. If after their first rehearsal if they are still interested, they will be welcome to join us live following the Chapter Covid protocols. If any member has anyone interested in attending a Zoom session, please inform Ben Marder and Bob Karlin with the guests contact info so they may provide the Zoom info for the first rehearsal. The state mask mandate regarding "inside" mask wearing will be stopped on 2/15/22, but LA County is not included in this. LA County will continue the "inside" mask mandate until the end of March. The Chapter will follow this mandate.

We discuss the future income of the Chapter. We're hoping we will get a lot of Valentine sing-out requests to help in this situation. Also, we have been told by the Director of the Encino Farmers Market, that we could perform at the market at least one Sunday a month if we wanted. I mentioned this at the rehearsal on Monday. If we have enough singers who are willing to make this once a month commitment, all we need to do is let the Director know and she will let us know the dates. If smaller groups, i.e. quartets or double quartets, whoever is putting this together needs to notify myself the details of the performance before it is finalized.

We reviewed and discussed the "New Member Audition Process". Everyone knows and understands that this process is handled by the Music Team which includes the Music VP, Section Leaders, Associate Director and Director ONLY!!! If anyone has any questions regarding the duties and responsibilities of this process, they need to communicate with the Music VP. If you are not one of the people mentioned in this process, please let those who are do their jobs.

I spoke with Chorus Manager, Jeffery Bunch, regarding Valentine sing-out calls on the SING line, and as of Monday, 2/7/22, he had not received any calls.

For the "Good of the Chapter" everyone thought rehearsals were going well and we need to keep up what we're doing as far as singing and have fun is concerned..
