The Music Team Mtg. was called to order at 7:15pm on Thursday, August 11, 2022. One member of the team, Ron Malkin, was absent.
Since we have been back on Zoom for rehearsals during August, the Team discussed the procedures of the Breakout Rooms. We have one Section Leader for each part.....Lead-Jeffery Bunch/Tenor-Kathie Edwards/Baritone-Mark Wolf/Bass-Phil Lockwood. I will remind the chorus that these are the only people that will give individuals feedback after they have run through the specific song for that Breakout Room session. If someone has a question about the individual run thru, they raise their hand and ask the Section Leader for clarification about a specific area. At no time will anyone other than the Section Leader make any direct comments to the individual who just finished the run thru. The Section Leaders must inforce this and make sure it becomes a standard. This also applies when we are back to live rehearsals during Section Rehearsals. If anyone has any questions or problems with this procedure, they should contact their Section Leader or myself.
There have been some questions regarding the few new songs we have been going over while on Zoom. These songs are just new songs that we will add to our repertoire for the future. We have been working on the same 10 to 12 show songs for that last few years. These new songs are songs we can add to our performance packages and the Team feels these songs are chorus and audience pleasers. These songs were to be presented by the Teaching Quartet and the learning process started during the month of August. But, due to the COVID issues we encountered, this had to be rescheduled.
The Team also discussed returning to live rehearsals. We are hoping the chorus will be ready to return on Monday, August 29th.
We discussed when we might start the planning for future shows. At this time, we do not have any firm dates or venues for the shows. We are continuing to get this information and will make the info public as soon as we know.
We are still waiting to hear from the schools regarding the dates of our presentations of "Barbershop Singing" at their music classes.
We now know that the Far Western District Fall Convention & Contest will be held in Fresno, CA on October 13-16.(Oct. 14-15 Quartet/Chorus Contests) The info regarding this is in the email you all should have received from the FWD this week.
"Good of the Chapter"......The Team felt that the Chapter should be so thankful that we have a program we can fall back on when we need something to keep us going. That program is ZOOM. We know that we all would rather be rehearsing live than to be on a computer trying to rehearse that best way we can. We manage to have the same number of attendees on Zoom that we have at live rehearsals. To us, that says something. So, bear with us and keep the faith....."WE WILL BE BACK!"
