VP Music & Performance-10/16/22

The Music Team Meeting was called to order at 7pm on Thursday, October 13, 2022. One member of the team, Mark Wolf, was absent.

The Team felt the rehearsals were going well, and just mentioned that members need to put more time and effort in to learning their music. It's taking us far to long to get the songs performance ready.

We discussed the change in section seating for rehearsals. Starting on Monday, October 17th, we will set up the chairs pretty much in standard quartet formation......tenors, leads, basses and baritones. We will try this to see if it helps all sections hear other parts better.

We discussed the status of the upcoming show on November 19th. Bob is still looking for one more female actor and Stage Manager. We also discussed the possibility of having a Holiday show on December 10th at the Hall of Liberty. The majority of the Team felt this was to soon after the fall show and that we should cancel this show for this year. It will be discussed at the BOD Mtg. and decided at that time.

We talked about the Farmer's Market performances, and if we wanted to start doing these again. Everyone agreed we could start these performances and add some of our Holiday Rep songs. I will ask Ben to check with OneGen to find out available dates. Of course, these performances will depend upon the weather, as it will start getting cold soon.

We have received two responses from the schools we sent letters to regarding having a quartet attend their music class and explain 4 part A Capella Barbershop Harmony. Our Chorus Manager, Jeffery Bunch has been in touch with the teachers of these music classes at the Boys Prepatory School in Northridge and Cleveland High School in Reseda. We are in the process of setting up the dates and times for these performances.

Since we really don't know what the calendar of events throughout the Society are for 2023, we deferred discussing any dates for shows or functions for next year.

I reminded the Team that we have four rehearsals left before our show. So, Section Leaders need to make sure their sections are up to par on the show music, and make sure they are there to offer any help to their section if necessary. Everyone needs to promote our show and help get as many people to attend as possible. Remember, the auditorium seats 1200. Yeah, we all know we won't fill it up, but wouldn't it be nice to have 200+!!!!!!! We all have to make it happen. LET's DO IT!!!!!
