VP Music & Performance 2/23

The Music Team meeting was called to order at 7:10pm on February 9, 2023.

After welcoming all for attending the Team discussed how they felt the rehearsals were going so far this year. Everyone thought the rehearsals were going good and felt everyone was having fun and liked the new format. We discussed some additional things we could do in the future to keep the rehearsals interesting and fun.

We then talked about the upcoming performance on 3/25 in Burbank. We talked about the package we would do, and the two song package was decided. We will let the chorus know soon. I was informed by our Secretary/Tresurer, Dave Kirby, that all who would be present at this performance have now been registered. He is now in the process of registering the chorus as a competitor.

We then discussed the fees that the chorus should charge for singouts. Since we have the singout on Saturday, 2/11, it was necessary that a standard fee should be set up for these singouts. After discussing this for a while, it was decided by the Team, one person not in agreement, that the fee for a 501-C3(non-profit) organization should be $300-200 and regular organizations $600-$400. Of course this would have to be discussed by the Board for approval. It was also mentioned that if a member gets a request for a singout, they should refer that person to Jeffery Bunch, Chorus Manager, to handle. They should not quote a fee at any time.

We then discuss the status of Jonathan Burns. It was decided by the Team that at the current time, Jonathan has not passed his audition on either songs, and the Team felt that he would not be able to fulfil all the steps to become a member. He definitely has some problems learning his part on songs and is affecting other singers in the bass section. He would also only be with us until August when he will be deployed by the Navy for a four year stint.

Bob Karlin let the team know that he will probably have new song/current rep CD ready for distribution Monday, 2/13. The Holiday CD will be distributed soon.

The Teaching Quartet will be meeting on 2/26 to continue going over and polishing new songs that we will start presenting in March. The songs that the TQ will be presenting will be on the CD that will be distributed. Be sure to check the "What To Practice" for March to see when the songs will be presented.

Bob Karlin, Show Chairman, reminded everyone that the plans are still in progress for the "Spring Fling/Ice Cream Social" to be held on 5/13 at the OneGeneration Hall.

Jeffery Bunch, Chorus Manager, gave the Team an update on the school barbershop demos and future performances. He will give the details in his report at the Board of Directors  meeting.

"Good of the Chapter"......keep doing what were doing, do everything you can to recruit some new members and get our name out in the community for more paid gigs and again new members. "It's the Music"
