The September Music Team Meeting was called to order at 7:05pm on 9/14/23. Jack Press and Toni Wilson were not in attendance.
The Team just went over how everyone felt how the rehearsals were going. Everyone felt things were going good and keep up the good work.
We talked about future Encino Farmers Market performances and decided we would take a poll on 9/18 and see if we have enough singers available to perform on 10/8.
I let the Team know that the Crescenta Valley merger is done as far as our part of the process is concerned. We ended up with three new members from the merger.
I let the Team know that the pick-up teaching quartet will present the next new rep song, "As Time Goes By" the last rehearsal in October.
We discussed the Polo Shirt ordering situation and I think the process is back on track and will be working for the new members to order when they are ready.
We talked about the Sherman Oaks Street Fair on 10/15(Sunday). The fair will run from 10am-6pm. We need to have a set-up crew there to set up our canopy and table(s) about 9am. The main purpose of our participation in this event if for recruiting purposes. Our Membership VP, Ben Marder, will be there with all of our marketing materials. We will have all three of the Chapter Quartets performing from our location all day long. Each quartet will have specific slots during the day. That info will be set after the quartets have discussed their availability. There is also a chance that the chorus will be able to perform on stage at approximately 3:30pm. Beth will be hearing from her contact person as whether the chorus will perform or not. Once we know, we'll let the chorus know.
Bob Karlin gave the Team an update of the fall show. He has started the preliminary script for review at this time. Once final details are set, he will let the chorus know. All the seasonal songs and rep songs the chorus has been working on, and will be working on, are songs that will be performed in the show. Myself and Jeffery are planing on spending time mid-November to voice place the chorus, so we have time before the show to get use to new positions on the risers. Bob also mentioned that the Spring Fling/Ice Cream Social will be held at OneGeneration on 5/18/23.
I let the Team know that the GASCo will be doing two back to back classes at the International Preperatory School in Northridge on Monday 10/18 to explain Barbershop Four Part A Capella singing to their music classes.
For the "Good of the Chapter", everyone was excited that with the merger and new prospective members, we have grown by five singers in the last few months. Hopefully, we will get some more interest at the Street Fair. Keep up the good work.
