The Music Team Mtg. was called to order at 7:15pm. Those in attendance.....myself, Bob Karlin, Ron Malkin and Jeffery Bunch.
I asked the team for suggestions as to what they thought we could do to get members to learn their music in a more timely manner so they could zero in on the director and follow the interp plan of the songs much better. After a lenghtly discussion on this, it was felt the problem was that there was to much new music to work on. It was mentioned that we needed to work specific songs on a more repetitive basis at the weekly rehearsals. Therefore, we will not be presenting any new songs until the Music Team feels the current songs we've been working on can be peformed by all without the music. If anyone has any problems with this, they need to speak to their Section Leader, who will let me know. I mentioned to the that we started adding new music because chorus members were saying they wanted to learn new music. OK!!!!!
We had planned to distribute the USB Flash Drive recorders to members in mid-February, and then start using them in March. Since we were dark two nights in February due to various reasons, this didn't happen. I was planning to do this in March sometime, but we found out from Bob Karlin that the devices were not charging properly as they should, so he is in process of locating another type of device that we can obtain that does the recording. When he has the info on this, he will let us know.
Bob Karlin gave the team updates on the Spring Fling/Ice Cream Social. The program talent is pretty much in place. Bob will have flyers for this event on Monday, 3/11. As soon as details are finalized as far as hall set up, riser set up, etc., Marching Orders will be distributed. The chorus will be performing five songs in the program, which we will start working on during the month of April.
Chorus Manager, Jeffery Bunch, is communicating with past organizations we have sung for to try to set up more chorus performances. At this point, he has not gotten any responses. He will continue to follow-up with these organizations.
