The Music Team met at 7pm on 12/10/2020.
The Team discussed various ideas on how to vary the Breakout Room rehearsals each week. We will try different ideas of what to do in the Breakout Rooms and decide on which ones work best for the chorus. One thing that was suggested was, that when we present a new song, that we try working on it in Breakout Rooms for two weeks.(either first or second half each week) At this time a new song will be presented in the second half of the rehearsal on 1/25/21. This song is on the website for all members to look at and work. Since alot of our songs, both new and rep, will be placed on the website for all to view and work from. It is very important for everyone to get use to using the website, because it already has, and will continue to have new information that all members need to be aware of. Again, all members need to know that their Section Leaders, Bob Karlin and myself are available to help all navigate around the website if needed. There is also a "How To" area on the Main Dashboard to help you walk through the steps of various areas.
Tom sent an email to all team members asking them to submit to him at lease three songs(new or old)that they would like the chorus to learn. Once everyone has submitted their suggestions, Tom, Bob and Jeffery will meet and go over the songs to analyze and see if they are suitable for the chorus and if we have, or have to obtained, sheet music and learning tracks. We will keep everyone informed as we go forward with this process.
We also discussed the Virtual Audition Process for potential new members. This process will be handled by the Section Leaders during the Breakout Room sessions when the Membership VP lets them know that the potential member had completed all membership paperwork and is ready for their audition.
Tom let the Team know that we will have guests speakers in January and February 2021. On 1/25/2021, Rob Nance will join us the first hour and discuss various vocal items. He charges $90 per hour, and this will have to be approved by the Board before we can finalize the visit. On 2/15/21, Katy McDonald for the Barbershop Harmony Society will join us for the first hour to discuss member recruitment and retention. Mark Singer will be announcing these visits during his reports.
Tom, Jeffery, Bob and Jack press will attend the FWD final SCE/SCW ZOOM meeting of 2020 on 12/12/20. Details to follow.
